Ancient History Teaching Issues

Can anyone refer me to a text that provides adequate coverage and historical references for the year of the Four Emperors? The texts that I have only provide a brief coverage and I am not sure how much detail students should be provided with.

Am I understanding this rightly? Pompeii is just one of the 4 topic areas in the new syllabus and people seem to have gone into a frenzy about it.
