I am teaching this Case Study and the course for the first time and would love to talk to people who have tackled it before for suggestions of approaches and how not to completely overwhelm the students.

I am still gathering resources and reading but plan to start teaching it in Term 1.

Dear Ann,

I think Elizabeth is a great choice. I have taught Elizabeth up until last year when I changed to Historicity of Jesus for a year because of student interest in the topic. I am going back to Elizabeth because I think it is much more fun! What a woman!!!

The topic really gives itself to the nature of changing historical interpretation - I think. Dickens, Elton, Haigh, etc..., etc... all the big names have had a go at Elizabeth. So should you.

Cheers,
Phil

I agree with Phil.  Dont forget the variety of film interpretations as well.  We studied it this year and, just as the students were finishing their main texts, the new film on Elizabeth with a much older actress in the role depicting the middle to late period of her life, came out.  It generated enormous discussion in the classroom
